Fiestas

Spain is the land of fiesta.  Most have their origin in religious festivals both Christian and pagan, as do most of the holidays in northern Europe.  But nowhere can compete with Spain in terms of the number of fiestas and the fervour with which they are celebrated.  Perhaps its the warm weather, or maybe the exuberant Spanish character but no one comes close to the Spanish when it comes to turning a solemn religious event into an all night knees up.  Not forgetting their almost obsessive love of fireworks.....
